In keeping with the Baptist preaching experience, I concluded the Freedom series last week but was quickly instructed that I needed to address one additional point in order to be Free At Last! Therefore, this is my second closing. As previously noted, we first contemplated those barriers that prevent us from obtaining our freedom in Christ. Secondly, we made Christ the head of our lives. Thirdly, we found a quiet place to pray to center ourselves. Fourthly, we rejected anything or anyone that caused us to stray away from God’s perfect will for our lives. Now, it is mission-critical that we initiate the fifth step, and that is to renew our minds.
Many of us have been deceived by half quoted scriptures, false doctrine, and miss information. For example, we have quoted many of the following phrases: only what you do for Christ will last: money is the root of all evil; this too shall pass; God helps those who help themselves; and God takes care of fools and children. All sound good and have been shared over many generations but may not be scripturally sound. For example, currently, during the pandemic, many have been preaching that salvation is connected to church attendance in order to have members come back to church. Not so, salvation is simply accepting Christ as your Savior and repenting from sin. God’s church is an important part of our walk with Christ but it was designed according Matthew 16:18, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. The church is our way to gather and to serve God by meeting various needs in the earth. We have to reject false teachings. Therefore, it is imperative that we renew our minds.
The scriptures teach us Romans 12:2, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will. Colossians 3:2, Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:16, Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through Psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
By rejecting those things not in alignment with God’s perfect will for our lives, but renewing our minds with those things that are divinely orchestrated by God, places us on a solid foundation for living a Remarkable life that is Free at Last!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
