What if one simple introduction could change everything?

In 2009, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). At that moment, I truly believed it was the end of my world. I feared becoming a burden. I did not want to be pitied; I simply wanted to be understood.

I initially planned to highlight the 2026 Alcorn State University, National Alumni Mid-Winter Conference recently held in Memphis, Tennessee. But plans shifted when we woke up Saturday morning to news that shook each of us.

On behalf of Re-Imagining Contentment, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rev. Dr. Leroy Williams, the Deacons, and the Jones Chapel M.B. Church family for the gracious invitation to bring the message on this past 2nd Sunday!

As we step into 2026, uncertainty surrounds us. Laws have shifted, power structures have changed, and freedom feels fragile. Earlier this month, I introduced our theme for 2026: Trust God! Today, we begin with the first step: silencing the noise.

Last year, our theme was Abiding in God’s Love—learning to rest in His presence and draw strength from His unfailing care. This year, the call is clear: Trust Him.

To God be the glory for an amazing year for Re-Imagining Contentment (RIC)!

What an honor it was to share with my cousin, Rev. Dr. Stephen T. Cook, and my beautiful Soror and First Lady, Erma, during the Women of Virtue Conference at Anderson United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS!

Each year in October, Re-Imagining Contentment does a little something different.  This year, we celebrated our five-year anniversary of the launch of Re-Imagining Contentment by focusing on our theme this year of Abiding in God’s Love.

Thank you for walking with me on this Abiding in God’s Love journey! In a world that often feels uncertain, love remains our anchor.
