I Made It! A Golden Voyage

On Friday, June 5, 2026, my life took an unexpected turn. A driver failed to stop at a stop sign and hit my car on the driver’s side. Almost every airbag deployed! In that moment, fear took over, not for myself but for my great-nephew, who was seated directly behind me, and for my niece, six months pregnant, sitting beside him. By God’s grace, everyone is doing well. I am still stiff and sore, but deeply grateful!
Just one week later, the Washington, DC Alcorn State University Alumni Chapter hosted our Golden Voyage Weekend, a celebration months in the making. From June 12–14, alumni gathered for fellowship, joy, and reflection. The highlight was a charter-member brunch cruise on the Odyssey. The committee’s work was outstanding, and the event was simply beautiful. I’m so thankful I decided to press my way and be present.
With everything happening, work pressures and demands, overwhelming news, and exhaustion, the last thing I needed was an accident and all the follow-up that comes with it. But God knew what I needed. As soon as I arrived at the weekend activities, I realized I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:3, Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Proverbs 17:22, A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bone.
Sometimes God calls us to be still. Other times, He calls us to press our way through. This time, pressing through opened the door to healing, joy, and connection. Celebrating our charter members and embracing the warmth of familiar faces felt like a family reunion for the soul.
Always seek God for direction! He will never lead us astray.
I want you to know that contentment is possible, even in challenging seasons, if we choose to live from God’s perspective. You are not walking this journey alone. We will navigate this season together. As we stand firm in faith throughout 2026, let us unite in prayer for transformed hearts, healing in our communities, and unwavering trust in God’s guidance through every challenge.
Always look for the remarkable in your life.
