Whatever You Magnify will Master You!

In the previous post, we talked about fear. I shared how fear slammed into me unexpectedly during an accident on Friday, June 5. Today, I have a new vehicle, and I named this van Silver Lining. Through this experience, I noticed something important about fear: it does not always leave immediately, but we can choose not to let it lead us. I am still working through it, but I keep driving because I have realized that whatever you magnify will master you.

Each time I get into my vehicle, I take a moment to encourage myself. I remind myself that I can do all things through Christ. I remind myself that I serve a God who is in complete control. I ask the Lord to cover and protect me and everyone on the road. I am choosing to take my eyes off fear and place my eyes on God. Isn’t this what He wants from each of us? This journey has also helped me in other areas where I may feel anxious. I have to stand on what the Word tells us.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:3, “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” And Philippians 4:13 declares, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Remember: whatever you magnify will master you.

• If you magnify the diagnosis, fear grows;

• If you magnify uncertainty, anxiety grows;

• If you magnify God’s character, courage grows; and 

• If you magnify God’s promises, peace grows.

I want you to join me the next time fear tries to slam into your life. Replace it with faith and trust in God. Every day, we decide what deserves the greatest place in our hearts. When God becomes front and center, every other fear begins to shrink. As Isaiah 26:3 reminds us, You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you, because they trust in you.

As we stand firm in our trust in God in 2026, let us unite in prayer for transformed hearts, healing across our land, and unshakable faith that God will guide us through every challenge we face.
