Don’t Lose Your Pearls!

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love my pearls. I have an assortment of colors, lengths, and styles for various occasions. I wear them every day, even at home during a pandemic. My grandmother gave me my first pair of pearls for my senior portraits. My mentor in the church, Ms. Jessie Pearl Stewart, told me “everything is better with pearls.” I feel dressed, ready, and equipped for whatever comes during the day with my pearls. They give me an added sense of power and confidence when I wear them. And we must use all of the tools at our disposal while living here on earth.
In this world, we will have trouble! This is confirmed in John 16:33, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Yes, we have a global pandemic compounded by social injustices; police brutality against black and brown people; personal and family challenges; economic and food insecurities; and health care issues, but we can’t lose our pearls. Please don’t cast away your confidence! We are also told in Matthew 7:6, Do not give what is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces (NKJV). In this passage, Jesus is instructing us about preaching the gospel and it not being received. He uses the analogy of pigs and how they will not appreciate pearls. Therefore, don’t lose your pearls on things that really don’t matter! Those things that don’t bring life nor bear fruit. We must continue to seek God and wait on Him for healing, direction, deliverance, safety, and protection.
Although we have so many distractions, please don’t lose your pearls. Stay focused on the “Main Thing” in your life. Only you know what that is. You have the authority in Christ to hold on to your pearls and to recover them if they have been lost.
Always look for the Remarkable!
