No matter your race, socio-economic status, educational attainment, occupation, or gender, you are not protected from challenges. Currently, we have so much going on in our country and around the world. Our news has been filled with so many stories about natural disasters, a tragic building collapsing, a horrific train collision, other acts of violence, and blatant disrespect for one another. Not to mention, those personal things that directly impact our family. Yet, on Friday, the news reported that someone jumped off the roof of the Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, TN onto the display car parked outside of Dr. King’s room. This story on top of everything else going on -- really bothered me!
Sometimes you can’t help but wonder why? Why are third graders stressed about passing a standardized test? Why are we still dealing with mass shootings? Why do we have so much senseless violence? Why was it so hard for Congress to come to a much-needed agreement regarding a bill to address the debt ceiling? All of this may have you searching for calmness amidst your challenges. I am here to tell you that you are not alone. God has the key to obtaining your calmness!
The Word of God tells us in John 16:33, I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. Romans 8:35, Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Psalm 55:22, Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you: He will never let the righteous be shaken.
Sometimes you will need to turn off the television, not answer that phone call, and stop scrolling through social media in order to find calmness. This will allow you time to find a quiet place to have a centering moment to hear from Lord. This precious time with the Lord will give you calmness and allow you to not be so quickly bothered when things happen in and around you!
As always, thank you for your love and continued support! Join me in prayer to change hearts, to heal our land, and for the contentment and peace to handle whatever should come up! I am so thankful to each of you for joining me on this journey to re-imagine contentment in 2023!
Always look for the Remarkable in your life!
Dr. ReShone
